New York Maker Faire Needs Volunteers
Tuesday, August 16, 2011
This popular event takers place at the New York Science Center on September 17th and 18th, and needs volunteers to mentor and teach aspiring needle artists!
TNNA (The National Needlearts Association) is hosting an educational needlearts booth at Maker Faire, and needs knitting, crochet, embroidery and stitching volunteers to help teach throughout the day.
If you aren’t familiar with Maker Faire, it’s a two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset. It is for creative, resourceful people of all ages and backgrounds who like to tinker and love to make things. Check out the web site for more information on Maker Faire.
Volunteers are asked to sign up for a few hours of teaching and in return will receive FREE entrance to Maker Faire (value: $25) on the day they volunteer.
It’s easy to get to the faire using public transportation, and this is truly a wonderful and inspiring event where we get to teach new people about the needlearts!
Want to see how much fun we had at this event last year? We had DMC staff onhand to demonstrate basic embroidery techniques and posted photos here on the blog!
Please sign up for your volunteer shift, please include contact information in the “notes to organizer” on the web site or email us your contact info to tnnamaker@gmail.com. A staffer will be back in touch with more information about your volunteer day at Maker Faire.
I hope to see you there!
