Turkey Silhouette to Stitch for Thanksgiving

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Here’s an awesome last-minute project to stitch for Thanksgiving. This regal turkey with decorative corners is worked as a silhouette – an outline with a solid interior.

Work the free pattern in cross stitch using DMC Pearl Variations thread (which is also available in a 6-strand floss version) on CharlesCraft Gold Standard 14-count Ivory Aida.  Only 2 skeins of Pearl Variations are needed for this project. I chose a pretty, Autumn-toned color, but the turkey would look equally pretty worked in red or blue DMC Six-Strand Embroidery Floss (redwork- or bluework-style).

Happy Stitching! ~Emma

I’m planning to make a small ornament for my seasonal tree next year using this classic turkey silouette pattern. Thanks for this great offering.
