More Summer Thread Crafts for Kids!

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Hello Happy Campers!

I hope you and the youngsters are having an awesome time with the kidlings!

Here are more thread crafts to help keep the younger kids amused during the hot, dog days of summer.

Use DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss or other DMC Embroidery Threads to create these cool International Worry Dolls.  In no time at all, your kids will have an entire village of colorful figures.

They’re easy to make by wrapping and gluing thread to wooden clothespins.

The finished dolls can be enjoyed on their own, or glued onto barrettes, hair bands, tote bags and more.

Worry dolls are a perennial favorite – they’re a ton of fun to make and even more fun to share!

And here’s a project is suitable for kids ages 6 and up, with no needles required. All you need is a colorful assortment of  DMC’s Prism Craft Thread, 3-inch wooden ornament shapes from the craft store, tacky glue, waxed paper, and a toothpick (feel free to blunt the ends of the toothpick for younger crafters!).

Mark details on the wooden shapes, and then glue the thread to cover the entire shape. Jazz it up with swirls and circles!

Since it’s never too early to start crafting for the Holidays, this sanme technique can be used to create awesome ornaments.

You can get the instructions here.

These fun and easy thread crafts will keep the kids busy for hours!

Enjoy!

~Emma

I absolutely love the worry dolls – I used to collect those things when I could find them. This is a wonderful excuse to voluntarily ask for the company of one’s granchildren. I like to play! Your projects are great – different from the boring norm.
