Super Summer Stitching

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Summer – my favorite season – officially arrives tomorrow! It seems like it took forever to arrive this year, but now that it’s here, it’s time for some summer stitching fun.

To celebrate the season, these talented designers have posted some awesome summer stitching projects on Flickr that you can make using your favorite DMC Embroidery Threads.

Jacque Davis has posted a bunch of really cute novelty designs, reminiscent of iron-on transfers from the 1940’s.  This one, featuring treats for a summer barbeque, would look great on a kitchen towel or picnic table runner.

This Mandala design by Nicole Raisin Stern is for coloring, but would make a fabulous embroidery pattern!  Outline the shapes with Stem Stitch and then “color” them with filling stitches.

Needlecrafter.com has a list of free patterns, including this gorgeous summer sun.

Summer’s a great time to stitch.

Pop a few simples supplies in your StitchBow Roll and tuck it into a beach tote, handbag or suitcase, and you’re ready to stitch on the go.  Anytime, anywhere!
