This week I picked up the latest issue of the bi-monthly magazine by Simply Handmade, which is filled with sewing projects giving you “35 reasons to thread your needle”. Two of the awesome, inspiring projects in the magazine are shown here.
The pretty bird purse by Rebecca Harkin, featured on the cover, has an appliquéd bird, stitched in place with DMC Embroidery Threads using the blanket stitch, and accented with lazy daisy flowers with French knot centers.
The purse can be made up quickly and would make an awesome gift… hint – Mother’s Day is coming up, and my birthday’s in 3 weeks. LOL!
You can personalize the project with your favorite colors or styles of fabric.
Another design that caught my eye is this sweet sentiment by Amanda Cowell, stitched in DMC Embroidery Floss using a wide variety of easy embroidery stitches. I loved the embroidery hoop frame as a finish!
