Stitch Pink Project Update
on Wednesday, August 25, 2010I’ve been receiving some wonderful messages from everyone regarding DMC Thread’s Stitch Pink Cross Stitch Blocks drive. Thank you so much to everyone who has been participating and sharing your experiences.
Like many of you, I am also stitching one of the blocks for the Stitch Pink Breast Cancer Quilt that will be auctioned off.
Click here for the free pattern (or click on the image of the block) and stitch along with us to help fight, raise awareness, and find a cure for Breast Cancer!
Some of you are already finished (thanks, Doris!) and are ready to send in your blocks – this is so awesome!
The due date for all of the finished blocks is November 15th.
While the Stitch Pink kits are only available in the US, stitching the blocks for the quilt is open to everyone. We also hope this program inspires similar events in other countries.
We’ll need lots more blocks,so let’s all keep on stitching!
~Emma

I don’t do cross stitch, so I am working the design in surface stitches instead on white linen in the actual size of the pattern. Is this okay?
You bet – that’s an awesome idea! ~Emma
How should we send our block? Any specification for fabric size?
And to where should we send it?
I can’t find the kit to purchase anywhere. I have tried online at DMC and Joann’s. Neither has a place to purchase the kit. Can you help me?
Hi Kate. The link to the kit is in the blog post, in the last paragraph before the closing sentence, with a hyperlink in “Stitch Pink Kits“. Here’s the URL for the kit available to US-based stitchers through the DMC web site http://www.shopdmc.com/spectpacc09s.html. It is also in JoAnn stores – I saw it yesterday in my local store – it may take a few extra days to get on the shelves, depending on delivery and store schedules. Thanks for asking about it.
Hi Nia. There are hyperlinks in the blog within “due date” and “November 15th” lines of text. These take you to the previous blog with instructions for mailing. The blog with this info can also be located by copy/pasting this information into your browser: http://dmc-threads.com/stitch-pink-2/ – fabric information is available on the original blog (it is 14-count Aida) and in the free pattern. Enjoy!
Thank you for the info!!!
We are a stitching group from Ottawa Ontario Canada who meet once a week to stitch together. Five or six of us are stitching Pink Flower blocks for your quilt. We will send them to you by November 1st to make sure they arrive in time. Good luck with your auction. We will stay tuned for the results.
Thank you so much – this is AWESOME!!!
I’m going to stitch a block for the quilt – do we have to use the exact colors requested? I would love to adjust them a bit.
Hi Becki – exact colors are not necessary, but would look better in the finished quilt. If you are unable to locate the actual threads, staying in the same color family would also work. Thanks for asking! ~Emma
