Stitch Pink Quilt Update

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Hi All!

The construction of the Stitch Pink Quilt is now complete, and the quilt is ready to be auctioned on Ebay, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in this awesome event, and invite you to follow the aution on Ebay.

The auction will start on January 8th, and can be found under the “Crafts –> Handcrafted Finished Pieces –> Quilt” categories.  I’ll post an update with the actual link on that date as well.

The quilt will be displayed later this month at the CHA Winter Conference & Trade Show in Los Angeles, along with a plaque (shown here) honoring the contributors of the beautifully stitched blocks.

The quilt itself will also feature a tag thanking everyone, and giving a special mention to Nancy DiDonato, the wonderful quilter who put the blocks together.

For more information, see our press release, posted here.

More on the auction coming soon!

~Emma

Oh that brings tears to my eyes. That is one of the most beautiful quilts I’ve seen. A very special thank you to Nancy DiDonato who put it all together so perfectly.

It’s beautiful! I’ve never met the other people who sent in pieces, but I feel a special connection to everyone who helped make this. Glad to be a part of it!

Nancy DiDinato is a dear friend of mine. We who are PineNeedle friends are very proud of her time and “dingbat thinking” in the making of all her quilts.
Last night at the PineNeedle meeting she shared a picture of this quilt. Please know that all of us who are survivors honor and applaud the maker and DMC for choosing breast cancer as a charity of their choice.

I thought the quilt was going to be “auctioned” – there is only a “Buy It Now” button for $5,000. Someone explain please! Thanks.

Donna Jo, the “Buy It Now” option is only there until the first bid is placed. Now that the bidding has started, that option is no longer there. :-)

Just stunning! I had wanted to stitch a square but unfortunately didn’t get a chance so I do hope you do this next year. Beautiful work lovely put together. Your project is very inspiring. A small online stitching group that I belong to hope to so a similar project stitching hearts into a quilt to be donated/auctioned in support of one of the members who is fighting her battle.

    Great Job!
