Stitch Pink Blocks

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Hi All!

The Stitch Pink Project to help raise awareness for breast cancer is in full swing, and I’m pleased to report that we have received the first stitched block for the Stitch Pink auction quilt.

All proceeds from the sale of this quilt will be donated to benefit breast cancer research.

We’re so excited and can hardly wait to start assembling the quilt!

The first block submission was sent in by Doris Deiners of Canada, and is shown here. Awesome job, Doris!

Our own DMC staff from across the country has been participating in local events as well.

Staff from our New Jersey-based office will be participating in the Saint Clare’s Foundation’s Ninth Annual Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness next weekend in Rockaway, NJ. You can join us for the walk Sunday, September 19th!

And, since it’s important that we all get educated about this disease, we’ve put together information about breast cancer to help you learn more about it, including the demographics, symptoms, treatment – and most importantly, its prevention.

The deadline for block submissions in November 15th, 2010 and more information about the project and pattern can be found here.

We’re looking forward to receiving more blocks for the cause, so keep on stitchin’!

~Emma

Have just finished the pink flower block but am wondering what size edge needs to be left outside the stiching.

Great question! Please leave about 2 inches along all sides if possible. ~Emma
