Family Fun for St. Patrick’s Day!

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, and I’ve got a fun project – and tasty recipe – to share with you and your family.

This recipe for Irish Soda Bread is a classic and has been in the family for years. It’s super-easy, hands-on fun and is one of my personal favorites!

To accompany the freshly baked bread, gather up the kids and craft a batch of cute St. Patrick’s Day Gift Bags, perfect for sharing your soda bread or other St. Patrick’s Day treats with friends and family.

The bags are made from waxed paper sandwich bags embellished with DMC Machine Embroidery Thread and DMC Cotton Embroidery Floss.

Because of the simple machine stitching, this is a perfect project for the younger ones to learn sewing machine skills with adult supervision.

You and your family can then personalize the bags and tags any way you like – add tags, sequins, gold coin charms and a lucky shamrock!

Add a button closure wound with floss, and you’re ready to present your home-baked treats!
