There’s a lot of spring-themed loveliness on the web right now, perfect to put you in a happy mood even if the weather is in a rainy funk.
This beautiful floral embroidery tutorial on For The Makers is a delightfully detailed walkthrough. All you need is a bit of linen (have a look at ours) and 6 colors of floss. Try our cotton embroidery floss or even satin floss, for extra shine.
I especially love that you can download and print the tutorial. And it’s always nice to encounter a tutorial that features lovely hands!
Also beautiful is this New England Spring freebie on Embroiderbee. Using just a handful of blues and pinks, you can create a really lovely little sampler. I can also see the sampler looking gorgeous in our Color Variations threads, and with a bit of beadwork!
Remy says of her stitching, on her blog:
There is deep satisfaction to be found in the workings of fiber, cloth and color. My fingers ply the needle, while the stitches soothe my soul.
Remy shares numerous beautiful, free charts on her blog – her generosity and talent are inspiring!
I’m also in love with this sweet birds-on-a-wire felt pillow, on Sweet C’s Designs. It’s so easy to cut brightly colored shapes out of felt -a project that would be great on your own or with small children.
If you’d like to go the easy route -all you need is black and white embroidery threads for the details – super-easy and fun!
Lastly, how about these gorgeous stitched journals on My Chic Life?
I love the idea of using rubber stamps to create embroidery patterns – so simple and genius! I’m not sure about you – but I have oodles of stamps and journals, so this idea will help me put them all to good use as spring gifts.
Hope this Spring roundup inspires you, and be sure to share if there’s a DMC-inspired project or tutorial you have cooking! Comment here, or email us at Emma@dmcus.com.
