Shop Visit – Needlepoint Etc., Honolulu
Tuesday, June 29, 2010I love to travel, and no matter where I’m at in the world, I’m always stitching – and I always visit a local shop or two.
Connecting with the local needlework store (LNS) is a terrific way to make new friends, see what people other people are stitching, and pick up a unique find or some new inspiration!
This month I found myself in Honolulu, where I visited Needlepoint, Etc. This Oahu-based shop is operated by Louise “Gussie” Schubert and is a true treasure trove for local stitchers looking for threads, canvas, stretcher frames and needledwork accessories.
Needlepoint Etc. features the full line of DMC embroidery products, including Tapestry Wool, Satin Floss, Pearl Cotton in every size, our varieties of floss, as well as our popular Color Infusions Memory Thread. Our Floche line is popular with local stitchers working with Japanese Embroidery.
Some of my favorite items in this LNS were the dozens of hand-painted canvases and kits created by local, Hawaiian artists, including items that you won’t find anywhere else.
Of course, I did a bit of shopping! I left with one of their Hawaiian needlepoint kits, some stretcher bars, and a beach-proof tote (a must-have for this trip!).
Thanks, Gussie - I enjoyed meeting you and visiting your awesome shop!
