Weekend Walk for Breast Cancer
Thursday, September 23, 2010
It’s been a busy month for DMC Threads staffers and stitching friends!
In addition to stitching blocks for the Stitch Pink Quilt project, staff from DMC’s New Jersey offices participated in last weekend’s Ninth Annual Saint Clare’s Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness!
The event helped raise $136,000 that will go toward a new ultrasound machine for breast imaging and a gowned waiting room for patients at St. Clare’s Imaging Center in Parsippany, New Jersey.
Similar events were attended by DMC staff and friends across the country – thank you for participating!
New pattern for the Stitch Pink project!
Any of the Stitch Pink Patterns can be stitched and sent in for the auction quilt, including the Pink Flower, Pink Ribbon, and the new Pink Crown.
The designs for the Pink Crown comes from our friend Sondra Weiner of Distance Queen, a sportswear design company that donates a portion of their proceeds to charitable organizations instrumental in finding cures for both breast cancer and children’s cancers.
The Pink Crown is based on the Distance Queen logo, which Sondra has graciously allowed us to use.
Cross Stitch the Pink Crown on 14-count pink DMC or Charlescraft Aida, using DMC Color Variations Floss or Pearl Cotton. The design is then outlined and enhanced with Fuschia Memory Thread.
Blocks for the auction quilt are due by November 15th, 2010 – more information can be found in the original Stitch Pink Blog or on the Stitch Pink pages on web site.
We hope you’ll join us in Stitching Pink!

I hope heart disease research will be as popular as this very soon, as that is the #1 killer of women in this country. I have been “laid low” with it, myself, due to not being aware of the symptoms.
Thank you for your Stitch Pink Campaign. My sister just finished treatments for breast cancer a week ago.
