Pretty Pink Hearts

Saturday, January 15, 2011

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, and I’ve been busy stitching a these sweet little hearts.

This cross stitch heart is worked in DMC Embroidery floss in a variegated pink on DMC’s Marbled Aida in Desert Sand, and is trimmed with fuchsia Memory Thread swirled and couched to the heart.

The outside trim of the ornament is made by twisting 2 colors of Memory Thread – pink and fuchsia – together to form a wired cord that is then hand stitched around the edges of the ornament.

Another nice way to finish the project is to place the stitched heart in a miniature frame to hang on the wall, or make several and finish as coasters.

These are so quick to make, you can make several in a day!

Very sweet. I wonder if it could be done on perforated paper and attach a paper pocket back to it, use it for sweet treats. Easy pattern with a clever twist (the memory thread part).
