Ornament Sweetness and Color Inspiration

Friday, August 10, 2012

To continue on our early celebration of all things holiday – today I point you to Mollie Johanson’s adorable Christmas Ornamentation series.

In this set of blog posts, Mollie reveals a free pattern every day, as a countdown to Christmas. Each idea is simple, quick, and sure to delight you as you stitch along with her!

Here are just a few of my faves in the series, but these ornament patterns are so quick and sweet, I know you’ll want to stitch up every one!

Now that you have your favorite holiday patterns picked out – how about colors? Do you ever find yourself sitting across from a pile of your favorite floss colors, with a pattern in hand, but no clue where to start?

I know I do – and believe me when I say that having every color at my fingertips sometimes makes it even harder to decide.

Which is why I was so excited to stumble upon Mollie’s lovely DMC Color Combo Ideas – beautifully photographed, gorgeous color palettes featuring DMC Embroidery Floss (labeled by color number) that are just waiting to inspire you!

So often we think of the holidays only in terms of festive red and green – but how about a color scheme that opens you up to new possibilities? How about some straw, red, turquoise, and white?

Or how about all the colorful goodness pictured above?!

Winter Skates

Or how about a classic wintry color scheme? Well, what about you?

What are your favorite Holiday color schemes?
