Make-Ahead Santa Pattern & Stitch Diagrams
Wednesday, September 22, 2010Today I’m posting the pattern and stitch diagrams for the Santa Hugs Pattern I showed you on Monday (the materials list was also posted in that blog).
Click here for a PDF of the pattern.
The design is stitched using four basic needlepoint stitches – basketweave, diagonal mosaic, satin and cross stitch (in the border areas).
Diagrams for the needlepoint stitches can be found here.
The entire design is stitched in DMC Tapestry Wool, with the Santa outlined in Memory Thread.
I’ll give you a few days to get started on your stiitching, and will post tips for stitching Santa’s beard. However, the beard can also be stitched on Basketweave stitch.
Remember, if you prefer cross stitch to needlepoint, the switch is super easy – stitch the design area and borders in cross stitch on 14-count Aida using 2 strands of 6-strand floss on blue CharlesCraft Aida cloth – there’s no need to stitch the background area.
Tips for stitching will be posted soon, and finishing instructions will follow in two weeks, to give you time to stitch.
Enjoy!

Está precioso el Santa Claus, ojalá realizaran todo un nacimiento (figura por figura) en punto de cruz, felicidades!!!!
I have only seen the Pink Flower to cross stitch for the quilt. Have others been released or how can I find the others?
Thanks for the message – the patterns have all been released in subsequent blogs. But, you can also find all of the patterns here on DMC’s web site. The pink flower, pink ribbon, and pink crown are all available to stitch.
I can’t seem to find your additional tips for stitching Santa’s Beard. Can you help me. I love the pattern
