Reports from the TNNA Show:

The show was down about 10 exhibiting companies and up attendee wise. However, even though attendance is down from previous years, the stores that come are serious buyers and the exhibitors are doing well and for the most part pleased with the sales. The educational components of the show were received well. The Fashion Show, Sample It, and the Needlepoint Group event were well attended. Attendance at Product Segment Groups and Membership Section meetings were strong with lots of projects planned. I attended the Counted Thread Group Meeting where the TNNA Mentor Program was discussed. The goal is to expand the program and really target the younger demographic. The TNNA Mentor Program is similar to the DMC Mentor Program. We will start working together on this initiative so stay tuned for updates on that!
DMC is busy tying up loose ends as we prepare for the 2010 Winter CHA Show. As of Friday January 15th new exhibitors are up from 61 last year to 100 this year, causing CHA to add a second new exhibitor area in Hall D. The total number of exhibitors is 592, compared to 620 a year ago. Some exhibitors are taking smaller booths. CHA says its currently tracking registered attendees at almost the same level as 2009. The consumer show has 146 exhibitors, surpassing the goal of 120.

The show starts at 10:00 am on Sunday, an hour later than usual because of the annual award ceremony and keynote speech by life coach Dr. Martha Beck.

Nikki Silvis, Scrapbooker (#3701). (Comment: This exhibit was a huge hit at the summer show.) An eclectic collection of papers and embellishments.
Nu Art (#3717). Offering delicate, handmade stickers, counter cards, place cards, etc.
Objects and Elements (#3708). This jewelry-supply company is introducing a jeweler’s grade non-toxic resin, ICE Resin, a two-part epoxy for jewelry making. Because it’s clear and waterproof, there are applications for crafts, scrapbooking, and altered art. Also offering kits with easy jewelry projects for crafters and beginners designed by the well known designer/teacher Susan Lenart Kazmer.
Paula Radke Dichroics (#28). One of the best known names in jewelry is offering her dichroic glass beads.
Photo Basics by Westcott (#3617). Green Screen is basic software that allows the consumer to import a photo and then place the subject anywhere by choosing one of the included 100 digital-photo quality backgrounds (Holiday, Sports, Music, Birthday, etc.). Includes basic photo-editing tools.
Pretty Scrapbooks (#3528). A wide variety of cardmaking, scrapbook, and stationery supplies.
PSA Essentials (#3620). Offering 16 Peel & Stick™ stamp collections that combine a personalized stamp with the flexibility of an art stamp. Every self-inking stamp contains new technology allowing stampers to interchange designs without the expense of another stamp body.
Ribbon Print USA c/o Basket Thyme (#3623). Shoe-box sized desktop thermal printing machine and foils to customize ribbon and labels – used by retailers and consumers.
Scrap-O-Doodle (#3518). The Craft-N-Doodle is a lightweight, portable case for transporting and organizing supplies, featuring adjustable drawers, a removable stamping system, and hook-and-loop storage for smaller items.
Silhouette America (#1500). The Silhouette is a digital cutting tool that connects to a computer like a printer, but instead of printing designs it cuts them with a small blade. When it’s a machine connected to a computer, there’s access to all of the fonts on your PC and thousands of cuttable designs found on the Silhouette Online Store.
Slapitz (#1507). A new way to display stuffed animals.
Stack-On Products (#3612). Offering a wide variety of Stack-On organizers for small items – flat storage cases, drawer storage cabinets, bins, and storage boxes.
STAMPAVIE. (#3731). Presents six new collections, including the Love Nature collection by Australian artist Sarah Kay. Other brands include Gillian Roberts, Helz Cuppleditch, LeerP Aldrich, LeLo Design, Mo Manning, Penny Johnson, Rachelle Anne Miller, and Tina Wenke. All stamps are made in the U.S. from high-quality photopolymer.
Stephanie Eddy.com (#3625). Offering the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit all-in-one wire weaving tool, sold as all-inclusive kit or separately with accessory tool kit available. Also offering bead and wire kits for jewelry making, includes all materials and “Steps-by-Steph” color instructions. Kit instructions also sold separately.
Super ProEdge Blades (#3726). Craft and scrapbooking tools.
Teresa Collins Designs (#3413). Papers, transparencies, books, and embellishments for telling stories in a beautiful way.
Viking Woodcrafts (#1503). Books, paint surfaces and wood for painters, particularly decorative painters.
3M (#3153). Introducing Post-it Craft Paper, the first Post-it product line specifically geared toward the craft market; the repositionable Post-it Craft Paper has full-adhesive backing. Sold in assorted and single color sets of six sheets.
Advantus (#s 2140, 2234). Will launch a new line, The Girls’ Paperie, in collaboration with designer/teacher Margie Romney-Aslett. The line includes a variety of papers, stickers, and other scrapbooking products and joins other company brands such as Cropper Hopper, Tim Holtz Ideaology, and AMM (formerly All My Memories).
American Crafts (#1750). Is launching the spring-themed Dear Lizzy line by Elizabeth Kartchner, the company’s first line created in conjunction with a guest designer. Kartchner is the 2007 Creating Keepsakes “Scrapbooker of the Year” and author of 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges.
Clover Needlecraft (#4127). Heart Shape Pom-Pom Makers create perfectly shaped hearts in minutes to embellish scarves, hats, socks, scrapbooks, etc. The Oval Shape “Quick” Yo-Yo Maker enables customers to create perfectly shaped oval yo-yo’s. The Knitting Needle Gauge measures needles sizes 0 to 19 in U.S./metric sizing, and includes a 3″ ruler on the base. Stitch Markers Triangle (XS) for sock makers. Double Ended Tunisian Crochet Hooks made of bamboo enable customers to combine two colors of yarn and crochet in the round and provides a woven finish that maintains its shape with limited stretch.
Craft-N-Spin (#2733). The makers of the Painter’s Pyramid have introduced the Craft-N-Spin with 12 non-stick pyramids that allows artists and crafters to elevate and rotate craft projects.
HHH Enterprises. (#1606). This supplier of jewelry making supplies, watch faces and resins, metal findings, and papers for creating wearable art for pendants and belt buckles, has published Photos, Fashion and Resin Jewelry. Ronda Hills will conduct a workshop, “Wear Your Photo!” at 6-8:00 pm Sun., Jan. 24.
Helmar USA (#2880). Is introducing Zapdots – 3D, double-sided adhesives that allow consumers to add dimension to cards, scrapbook pages, etc. They bond to most surfaces including paper, plastic, metal, wood, foam, textiles, etc. They are acid-free and available in Clear, Black, and White in a re-sealable pack. Ready for immediate delivery.
Hot Off The Press (#3243). Look for 70+ new releases, from fresh designs in acrylic stamps and paper engineering templates, to luxurious flocked papers, thrifty CDs packed with art, and new additions to the best-selling line of Dazzles™ (including Disney Dazzles™).
Jack Dempsey Needle Art (#3804). A new catalog lists an extensive array of new needle art products.
Janlynn (#1901). Introducing an impressive new jewelry making line, A Bead at a Time – 144 handmade glass and metal beads that fit on any charm bracelet, including designer bracelets such as Pandora, allowing the consumer to design/make her own bracelet for much less than the leading designer brands. Watch for a Build-a-Bracelet applet on the website.
JHB Int. (#3130). In addition to the Spring 2010 Button Collection, there’s the new Sassy Silkies Beads and the new Toggle Collection by Kristal Wick, and new Texture Stamps, Bezel Findings, and Polymer Clay buttons by Lisa Pavelka. Kalmbach (#3012). New books: Metal Clay Rings, by Irina Miech. No metal-smithing required. … Crystal Brilliance: Making Designer Jewelry with Crystal Beads, by Anna Elizabeth Draeger. … Perfectly Paired: Designing Jewelry with Polymer and Metal Clays, by Patricia Kimle. … The Absolute Beginners Guide: String Beaded Jewelry (1st book in a series).
Kreinik Mfg. (#4112) Offering holographic metallic threads in traditional braid and ribbon sizes. These iridescent threads have flecks of color which makes them look three-dimensional. Sixteen new shades, suitable for all forms of needlework.
Midwest Products.(#1616). Will raffle a free craft wood assortment with display – a $5,000 retail value. Register by 1:00 pm Tues., Jan. 26. The winner will be announced at 3:00 pm that afternoon.

Is introducing the newest yarn for the Deborah Norville Collection, “Serenity Garden.” Available in February, this machine-wash, 100% Dralon Microfiber is available in six saturated colors and unique prints. Deborah will be in the booth Sun., Jan. 24, 1-2:00 pm. She will also be at the consumer show on Saturday hosting a “Knit With Deborah” hour from 11-12:00 noon and do a book signing near the Barnes & Noble store on Saturday, 1-2:00 pm.
R&M West Coast Ent. (#4212). Foamfetti is a new product to that can be molded and sculpted, air-dries, and sticks to wood, paper, and cardboard. … There will also be numerous book signings by authors Khris Cochran, Tanya Fox, Becky Meverden, Sharon Reinhart, Debbie Chialtas, Lisa Pavelka, Cathi Lilligan, Margot Potter, Sherry Stevenson, Ruth Rae, and Theresa Pulido. Check the schedule at the booth. … Christi Freisen will conduct polymer clay demos from her new book, Steampunkery.
Simplicity Creative Group (#1917). Introducing a new Boye line of crochet hooks and notions with the new license “The Crochet Dude,” Drew Emborsky. Author of numerous books and the crochet specialist on the Knit and Crochet Today tv series, Drew will conduct make-it/take-its throughout the show.
Tara Materials Inc/Fredrix® Artist Canvas (#2131). Will showcase the new Wyland Paint it Yourself Classroom Mural canvas product, which uses art to teach young people about forests and oceans, and their importance to the world. It includes an informative brochure, 5′ x 10′ mural canvas featuring an instructional tutorial specially designed by Wyland, exclusive links to wildlife images, educational content, lesson plans, etc. It was selected as an official creative project by FOCUS, a partnership between the U.S Forest Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Wyland Foundation™.
