I was watching the DMC Memory Thread videos on YouTube yesterday. The second part of the video features a section showing how to make swirls, twirls and curls – and it gave me an idea!
Orange Memory Thread swirled in a circle would make a really cute miniature pumpkin shapes, perfect for jewelry – so I made a pair of earrings.
The materials needed for one pair of earrings are one shuttle each of DMC Color Infusions Memory Thread in orange, green and brown, a pair of earring posts and backings, a scrap of waxed paper, a toothpick, some bent-nose tweezers and clear-drying glue.
To make the pumpkin, place a thin layer of glue on the surface on the waxed paper, about 1 inch in diameter.
Next, swirl the orange Memory Thread to fill the circle of glue and let it dry. Carefully remove the pumpkin circle from the waxed paper after drying. Then, glue a stem (made by folding a small piece of brown Memory Thread in half) and a tendril (green Memory Thread wrapped around a toothpick to make it curly) and attach to the pumpkins, having the raw edges of the Memory Thread tucked to the back side of the orange circle.
Glue the completed pumpkins to the earring posts and allow to dry.
Memory Thread can also be knitted to make awesome jewelry!
