Hannukah Stitching

Hanukkah’s fast approaching, so let the stitching and crafting begin! Here are some gorgeous Hanukkah projects from the blog-o-sphere

Purl Bee features a set of embroidered dreidel felt coasters – each side of the dreidel is represented.  The tutorial for embroidering on the beefy, super-thick wool felt will guide you through the entire project. While you’re stitching, embroider some Light Effects Gelt Bags as too!

Over at About.com, the Cross Stitch Guide features a pretty Hanukkah Greeting to stitch and frame, and the Needlepoint Guide features a Hanukkah Kippah (yarmulke) that you can stitch in Size 5 Pearl Cotton on 18-count canvas (there are over 18,000 tent stitches in this piece, but don’t let that stop you – this project works up quickly).

For Cross Stitchers, the Leisure Arts Library site features a pattern download you can purchase for this beautiful Happy Hanukkah piece worked on 25-count fabric.  Add DMC Light Effects or Satin Floss to give this piece some awesome sparkle!

…and check out this Hanukkah Hand Towel worked in back stitch and single chain (DMC Light Effects in gold and blue would be gorgeous in this design!) The pattern can be easily adapted to any size.

Happy Stitching! ~Emma
