Good Things in Small Packages

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Week six of our Twelve Weeks of Holiday Projects is in full swing, and this week DMC is bringing you free patterns for small packages using ready-made items.

These projects are real time-savers and would make awesome make-ahead gifts for friends and family.

Make this pretty mesh pouch using a pre-made zippered bag embellished with hand embroidery, along with a matching purse mirror. You can find these mesh bags in various colors at stores that sell cosmetics, travel items or organzing aids.

The Accessory Bag Set is easy to make using basic embroidery stitches featured in the pattern or in Emma’s Embroidery Stitch Tool (which would make an awesome stocking stuffer for a stitcher, by the way…). Get the PDF pattern here.

Another easy-to-stitch freebie is this cross stitch Gelt Bag used to hold the small, wrapped chocolate coins for playing the dreidel game during Hanukkah.

The bag is stitched using CharlesCraft’s Royal Classic Sachet Bags and Light Effects floss. Get the PDF here.

The patterns for the previous weeks’ projects can be found on our Holiday Ideas page on the DMC web site.

Stay tuned for more another small package idea later this week!
