More Good Things in Small Packages

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Save your empty mint boxes, because we’re continuing Week 6 of our Twelve Weeks of Holiday Projects with today’s free pattern featuring the ultimate in recycling.

Cover the box with embellished fabric and transform it into an Emergency Kit. The box makes a great gift or stocking stuffer!

Other uses for the box could include a travel jewelry case (lined with felt), a sewing kit for mending on the go, or tuck a few supplies inside to make a kit for a beginning stitcher.

The pre-printed felt is used as a basis for the embroidery, highlighting elements of the design using hand embroidery stitches and DMC Light Effects Floss. Solid-colored felts with a peel-and-stitch backing makes it easy to cover the box.

You can get the PDF instructions here, and visit our Holiday Ideas page for the previous weeks’ projects.

Another terrific small package with free instructions is this simple little box crafted from cardstock and felt, embellished with embroidery floss and trimmings. Hang it on the tree, or use as a gift box!

The project was designed by Kazan Clark and you can get the directions over at the Spellbinders site.
