Summer’s in full swing and there’s still time to stitch a little something to celebrate the season.
These adorable mini cross stitch designs are perfect to carry along in your purse or tote while on vacation, commuting, or just stitching quietly in the shade watching the kids run through the sprinklers.
Ahhh… I love a lazy summer afternoon!
There are 2 designs to choose from today - a tiny little yacht or a cute butterfly.
When worked on 14-count Aida, these designs measure about 2×2 inches and can be completed in a single sitting!
The Yacht and Butterfly each require a 6×6″ piece of DMC 14-count Aida or or Charlescraft Gold Standard 14-count Aida in White.
Work the design area in 2 strands of 6-strand floss in cross stitch, accented with back stitch using a single strand of floss.
You can stitch the design in DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss, DMC Satin Floss, or DMC Color Variations Floss, or add sparkle using DMC Light Effects threads.
If using DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss, the Yacht requires one skein each of color numbers 3855 Yellow, 3854 Orange, 3826 Ruse, 825 Blue, 336 Navy and 518 Turquoise. The Butterfly requires one skein each of color numbers 3855 Yellow, 224 Pink, 3840 Lt. Blue, 3838 Blue, and 312 Dark Blue.
The completed embroidery designs would look pretty framed, or you can get creative and finish them as key fobs, ornaments, coasters or box lids.
