Emma’s Collectible Wedding Cake Pin Cushion Pattern
Friday, May 13, 2011
Pin cushions are a hot collectible among stitchers, and come in a wide variety of shapes, colors, themes and sizes.
This sweet little three-tiered Wedding Cake Pin Cushion is the second we’ve created for you (the first was the Creepy Cupcake with a spider on top, posted back in October).
This project would make a nice gift for a new bride – or to add to your own collection!
Prefer a birthday cake? No problem – simply eliminate a layer or two and change the colors to match the preferences of the recipient.
To make the pin cushion, print out the full-size pattern pieces and gather your supplies.
You will need one rectangle of white craft felt, scraps of pink craft felt, fiberfill stuffing, DMC Machine Embroidery Thread in colors to match the felt (white and a matching pink), DMC Embroidery Floss in colors 957 (Pale Geranium) and 954 (Nile Green) and some polyester fiberfill.
Each layer of the cake is assembled in the same manner following the directions in the pattern, and the layers are then stacked and sewn together.
If desired, you can accent the scallops (as I did) by applying chalk pastels with a small brush along the scalloped edges (rouge or eye shadow works too!).
Happy Stitching!

This is so adorable! It is hard for me to hold a needle and sew anymore, but I may have to try to do this one!
So cute!
I enjoy making pincushions and hope to try this one.
