DMC Thread for Machine Embroidery

Monday, November 12, 2012

Almost every sewing machine sold these days features built-in embroidery stitches, or optional add-on embroidery beds and a wide range of designs available for purchase or download.

But  did you know DMC also makes 100% Cotton Machine Embroidery Thread in addition to our outstanding hane embroidery thread?

We do indeed!

Our highly mercerized Machine Embroidery Thread is appreciated for its finesse and look in machine embroidery.

Our thread is ideal for all types of machine embroidery, applique, sewing methods, patching, and quilting.

Because of the high speed of present day sewing machines, DMC developed a left twist thread which is ideally suited on all makes of sewing machines.

DMC Machine Embroidery Thread is available in a size 50 thread. Size 50 is a fine thread and makes for a smooth finished product, mistakes are less noticeable. When an occasional stitch should be misplaced, it is not too conspicuous with the finer thread. DMC Machine Embroidery

Thread encompasses a wide range of colors including 125 brilliant solid colors and 7 variegated colors. Features a convenient snap top spool in 547 yards.

I hope you’ll try some in your next machine embroidery project!

    Hi Emma,

why are some colors not available in the US?

My suppliers do not carry almost half of the shades listed on the color card.

      Hi Nellie,
The full line of colors for DMC Embroidery Floss is available in the US.
However, retailers will often carry a limited line of colors due to space limitations. The colors that they do not carry can be ordered from any online site that carries the full line of DMC products, including Herrschners and Yarn Tree.

I do all my hand embroidery using a single strand of a single color. Separating the strands of DMC floss is very time consuming. Are the spools the exact same floss that is sold in the standard floss bunches? I would think for people who embroider with a single strand, working from a spool would be considerably easier.

Hi Amy, oh my goodness, a single strand! I’m sure it’s beautiful! I am sorry, we don’t have spools of a single strand of our exact cotton embroidery floss. We do offer cotton machine embroidery thread on a spool in 125 solid and 7 variegated colors. However, the thread is very fine, size 50, compared to a single strand of floss, which is size 25.

I am looking for DMC thread I bought at aqs show in Paducah. It was on a cone and a light grey that blended with just about everything. It was the best thread I have used for piecing quilts. Thank you for your help. Sue Pons
