DMC CHA’s Class “Embellish a Floral Cosmetic Bag”

Hello Everyone-

I wanted to cover the fantastic workshop hosted by DMC, and taught by one of our favorite designers, Alice Okon. The class was a needlepoint class instructing how to embellish a floral cosmetic bag using needlepoint stitches with our Pearl Cotton, and embellishing over the floss with our new Color Infusions Memory Thread. The class had a great turnout. Everyone was very excited to learn some new stitching techniques, and some learning how to stitch for the first time. Because we only had the three hour workshop time, Alice focused on a section of the bag, the butterfly, and taught how to stitch and embellish the butterfly with Memory Thread. Each participant had a colorful Charles Craft tote at their place setting filled with great goodies all at a retail value of well over $150.00. The bags contained aida cloth, embroidery hoops donated by Clover, DMC Pearl Cotton skeins, DMC Cotton Embroidery Floss 117 skeins, 2 packages of different sized DMC tapestry needles, DMC needle threader, DMC embroidery scissors, Beading tweezers for shaping the Memory Thread donated by Beadalon, the whole 18 color assortment of DMC Color Infusions Memory Thread, three DMC brochures with free charts and projects inside, project instructions, the brand new copy of Needlepoint Now with free charts inside that use Memory Thread, and of course the floral cosmetic bag sent in from DMC France.

Everyone seemed to have loved the class! We all learned a lot, but had a great time with one another. Alice later did demo's at DMC's booth on stitching the butterfly from the class, and applying Memory Thread using a couching technique. Alice had our booth participants work on this cute stitched piece, that was later turned into a pin.
