CHA Show Highlights
Friday, January 29, 2010I walked the show the first and second day. I made sure to look at the booths that were displaying threads in their paper crafts or scrap booking, or other projects. It’s amazing to see how people use DMC Thread! Even I wouldn’t have thought of it.
My first stop was to "Hot off the Press." To look at their new Dazzle Sticker product. Dazzle stickers are stickers and chip boards that can be used for paper crafting or scrapbooking. These fun stickers can be stacked up to form layers and dimensions, embellished and stitched with DMC's Color Infusions Thread to turn these stickers into extraordinary works of art. Hot off the Press Inc. sells the whole line of DMC's Color Infusions because they recognized the enormous potential the threads have for a variety of mediums including paper crafting.
Check out all their great scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies and embellishments here.

Craft Critique was at the Consumer Show demonstrating the best of crafting. We were asked to participate in this but since DMC didn’t have a booth at the consumer show we felt that it wouldn’t have been so beneficial to our consumers. Craft Critique did however cover our new Color Infusions Memory Thread. Click here to check it out!
I met the lovely Lisa Kettel, a very talented artist and illustrator who lives right here in New Jersey as well! She has a great new book out called “Altered Art Circus.” She loves DMC floss and has some projects in her book using our floss. Stay tuned for some great projects that DMC and Lisa will do together!
My next stop was at Ecstacy Crafts Inc. to check out their new product called the “Punch and Stitch.” I heard a rumor that they used DMC Light Effects floss on their sample pieces, and turns out they do! The concept is a great idea, similar to dazzles but gives you free range to create whatever designs you like from simple to complex. Check out their website here.
Great news! The Craft and Hobby Association now has an online learning center, similar to DMC’s. The CHA OLC allows you to access a CHA Library of past winter and summer show education content, webinars on demand, and information on future shows. What a great resource! Click here to check it out!
Right near the DMC booth was a company I definitely wanted to check out, The Simplicity Creative Group. The company has a trademark called The Crochet Dude. Drew Emborsky is the Crochet Dude, and he runs a great blog filled with projects and a great concept of targeting men in the crafting world. Drew also designs patterns for women, but I think the majority of his success comes from his ability to incorporate teaching and workshops and combine that with his brand and product offering. I didnt get a chance to meet Drew in person since he was busy when I had a free moment to go over there, but I hope to link up with him soon and talk crochet using DMC's Senso, Cebelia, and Baroque Crochet Cotton.

My next stop was to Kasier Craft, an Australian craft and supplies manufacturing company. They had a great booth with a terrific product magazine that had free cutouts at the end perfect for scrapping something adorable for valentines day. Their website has tons of free projects and free digital printable cutouts. I especially loved their card projects that used thread around the outer edges, along with different new ways to use their wooden pieces to decorate and customize something really special. Check out their free projects here! Click here to download free printable designs to scrap with!So I saw so many of these cute scrap wire bound books, but for some reason this really stood out to me. Maya Road had some unique scrapping supplies. I especially loved her sewing bound book that held pins, measuring tape, scissors, and of course was all embellished with funky threads and fibers. I took a picture of each page because it was really so cute!

The catalog was different, they had pages of their product on heavy card stock all separate pages and stashed in a clear bag. It made for an interesting presentation. Visit the Maya Road website here.Right around the corner I came across a really cute funky scrap company that used a ton of threads and fibers in their scrap pages and projects. Bella Blvd. had a sweet clean booth with great examples hung everywhere. They were nice enough to let me take pictures of some of the samples that used thread. Check it out!

I had to share this great product I saw from Simply Renee. They have a new product called the Clip it Up. It's a great way to organize scrap supplies, and ribbons and thread! I wanted to purchase the Ribbon Organizer where you can store your ribbons on the top shelf, and any unfinished projects or scrap supplies below using the shelf using the clips, this would look great in my studio! Visit their website to see the other Clip it Up products.
I wanted to stop by Beadalon's booth to thank them for donating those great beading tweezers to help shape our Memory Thread during the class on Sunday.

Of course we want to shout out to our great friends at Clover. They donated embroidery hoops to our class. The great Clover ladies stopped by for a picture at the DMC booth.
Wow, I met a lot of people, and had some inspiration over load. The show was a great success. Even though the amount of exhibitors was down, attendance was up from previous years. Everyone I spoke to thought the show went well. The DMC booth was constantly busy, and our raffles twice a day drew quite a crowd.

Definitely next time Drew!

It looks like you covered just about the entire floor. CHA is so wonderfully overwhelming. I’m always pinned in our booth, but I enjoy my hour long breaks to wander and visit friends. I’m glad that you had a nice time.
