Stitch Pink in October

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and DMC has several projects you can stitch to honor those who have been stricken with breast cancer, as well as other cancers.

Stitch this heartwarming Bird of Hope pattern in cross stitch on 14-count Aida using 12 colors of embroidery floss.

The pattern for the ribbons shown here can be downloaded and stitched using just 4 coordinating colors of DMC Embroidery Floss.

Several cancers are represented on the sheet, but if you do not see yours listed, it’s easy to substitute the proper colors when working this simple design.

You might also want to stitch a single pink ribbon using either embroidery floss, Color Variations or Light Effects threads.

Breast Cancer Awareness – Free Patterns from the Blog-o-Sphere

Friday, October 7, 2011

Many of you have been requesting more Stitch Pink patterns to stitch for Breast Cancer Awareness.

In addition to the wonderful patterns given here on the DMC blog site, including the ribbon, pink flower, pink bird and the crown, there are other patterns you may wish to stitch.

Check out the pretty pink ribbon with a yellow rose designed by M. Schier and featured on the crosstitch.com site, or the Angel Ribbon from Little MoJo.

Quilters can stitch these free Think Pink and Ribbon Angels quilt blocks, designed and offered by Sindy Rodenmayer over at the FatCat Patterns site.

Applique the designs to the blocks by machine using machine embroidery or quilting threads.

Crocheters can work up these gorgeous pink crochet and beaded earrings designed by Cynthia!

These would look terrific worked in DMC Color Variations Size 5 Pearl Cotton in colors 4180 or 4190!

A complete tutorial for working the stitches over the wire is included on her site.

Happy Stitching!

NEW “Stitch Pink” Designs!

Friday, September 16, 2011

Last year, dedicated stitchers helped DMC create a fabulous Stitch Pink Quilt that was auctioned off to raise funds to help the fight against breast cancer.

Three different motifs were featured, including a floral, a pink ribbon, and a crown.

This year, we’re adding to the selection of patterns for the Stitch Pink theme, including this beautiful pink bird for you to stitch.

Other patterns will soon be available as well.

The pattern is worked in cross stitch on 14-count Aida using 12 colors of DMC Embroidery Floss.

Get the pattern here!
