Candy Corn Halloween Last-Minute Quickie!

Sunday, October 24, 2010

The countdown to Halloween has begun, with less than a week to go!

For a last-minute project, stitch and stuff a batch of Candy Corn Characters. These fun figures work up quickly enough that you can fill and entire cauldron in a day or two!

The bodies are made from the free pattern using three colors of felt – white, yellow and orange. The white upper body section and orange lower body sections are appliquéd to the main yellow felt shape. Use blanket stitch and 3 strands of DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss in white and orange to appliqué the pieces in place.

The faces are created using brown DMC Color Infusions Memory Thread that has been curled and twisted into fun features, and are couched in place with a single strand of brown embroidery floss. They look like yummy chocolate icing!

The appliquéd fronts are finished by stitching them to the backs using blanket stitch in yellow floss, and are lightly stuffed.

Enjoy!

This are priceless!! My daughter and I share a love for candy corn – I need to make these for her. She’s growing up now – almost 40. However, we are still children about the candy corn.
