Beautiful Needlelace Holly Garland

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

I love it when we find an unexpected, new use for DMC Color Infusions Memory Thread.

This versatile thread-wrapped wire can be bent and shaped to add embellishments to any type of embroidery project, and is perfect for Holiday stitching projects.

We recently came across this stunning example and wanted to share it with you.

Designer  Kimberly Servello of Baroque Embellishments has used Memory Thread to create her gorgeous Elizabethan Holly Garland project, shown here.

This fabulous needlelace project features three-dimensional holly leaves on flexible stems, accented with red bead berries and Memory Thread tendrils.

You can follow along in her blog as she creates this project from the curling stems to lacy leaves.

Kimberly offers a kit for her creation on Etsy, featuring everything you need to make a similar set of needlelace leaves – enough to make an 11 inch long garland with 16 holly leaves –  including the base fabric, threads, needles and beads.

Use the project to embellish a candle or napkin ring as shown, or attach the garland of leaves and berries to a basket, stocking, swag or wreath.

So inspiring!!!
