FREE Appliqué Quilt Pattern
Thursday, April 21, 2011
As promised, in today’s blog I am posting the FREE pattern for the Appliqué Tulip Quilt!
The pattern combines both appliqué and embroidery to make a pretty Spring quilt. Hang it on the wall, use it as a table centerpiece, or display it on a chair back.
The appliqués were stitched in place using DMC Machine Embroidery Threads, and the stems & tendrils were embroidered on the finished blocks using 3 strands of DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss.
The design is super-versatile and can also be used to make accessories like pillows (shown) or tote bags.
The pattern can even be adapted to paper crafts!
Reduce or enlarge the pattern to the desired size, then cut the appliqués from colorful paper and glue to card stock to make notecards, placecards and more (I’ve even used the design on the painted bucket)!
The stems and tendrils can be embroidered directly on the paper using the back stitch and 3 strands of DMC Embroidery Floss. I showed you how to do this in the Cardmaking and Summer Card Blogs.
It’s a pattern full of Spring Fun for the Entire Family!

I wasn’t able to open the link marked “pattern” but the other one “Applique Tulip Quilt” took me right to the pattern. I have it printed out. This would be a great beginner’s pattern for anyone who can do basic sewing and would like to try a single quilt square.
Love the pattern! Couldn’t open the pattern, but beautiful!
What an absolutely cute quilt (wallhanging). This will be used when I attempt applique for the first time.
Thann you for making it available!
There was a link missing the “h” in “http” – this has been repaired and all links to the pattern should be functioning. Thanks for letting us know! ~Emma
Had no problem downloading the pattern. It is a lovely pattern for a pillow. The instruction say to machine stitch this piece, but I think I will hand stitch it. Also I like the idea it can be used for paper crafts
beautiful, thanks Emma
Love this tulip, thanks for the pattern.
